Apple Tea Bread
Apple Tea Bread Recipe
With Fall just around the corner, here in Michigan we love to go apple picking. This was a treasured tradition in our family when the kids were little. Now being and empty nester I don't think you will find me climbing the nearest apple tree to get the best apples for this delicious recipe. Always remember to toast your walnuts or any nut you are using for your recipe, before adding to a recipe to bring out the flavor of the nuts.
1/2 Cup butter (softened)
3/4 Cup brown sugar
2 Eggs
2 Tablespoons Sour Cream
1 Cup tart apples chopped finely
2 Cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1 Cup chopped walnuts
Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs beating well between. Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. Toss the walnuts in the flour mixture and add to the batter. Spread the batter evenly in to a buttered loaf pan and let stand for 20 minutes before baking. Bake at 350º for 1 hour.
