Apple Quiche
Apple Quiche Recipe
When I read this recipe I was kind of turned off by the ingredients and I had said to my husband that I was not going to make all the recipes in my moms collection because some of them just sounded unappetizing.

He said you can't do that you have to make them all to see what they are like some of them may surprise you.  Well he was right this one did surprise me.  It isn't a sweet quiche like you would assume because of the apples.  Instead it is a bit more of a savory quiche.

I served it for dinner with a salad and crescent rolls but you could easily serve this for breakfast or lunch even brunch would be good.  I am sure that depending on the apples you use in the recipe could change the flavor of this dish easily.  So experiment to see the type apples you like.  You also may like to try a different cheese on top I think Swiss cheese would be great with the flavor of the apples.
1    9 inch unbaked pie shell
5    large apples
1    cup shredded cheddar cheese
2    eggs
1    cup heavy cream
1/2  tsp. salt
dash of nutmeg

Peel core and slice the apples into thin pieces.  Arrange in pie shell.  Sprinkle with cheese,  mix the eggs, cream, salt and nutmeg together.  Pour over the cheese and apples.

Bake at 350 degrees for 60-70 minutes

Serve Hot or Cold
*Typing this recipe I just realized that I made this wrong.  I sprinkled the cheese over the whole top instead of sprinkling the apples with the cheese and then adding the egg mixture.  I am sure if I had done it right the picture would be different.
